In games like StarCraft there are no "go to" hotkeys and so the only way to access a building quickly is by assigning it to a control group.
I have never ever seen any top RM players assign control groups to blacksmith/university.

It makes researches able to be queued, and this way one could also add hotkeys. Better contact the author (gag2000), Gallas, instead of re-doing all the work on your own, and suggest hotkeys to him.
instead, create a special keyboard for AOC with 100+ buttons
and it will erase existing hot keys etc
it is better to go to blacksmith/uni and lick researches individually
it has more laggs then leads

It's unnecessary for AoC because buildings are accessed using "go to" hotkeys. Those hotkeys centre the player view on the building, making it easier to click the tech with mouse than with hotkey.
most of the ppl who supported it play custom scenarios and not AOC
